Remembrance Day was commemorated yesterday morning with a small, brief ceremony, in accordance with the COVID-19 protocols.

During the short ceremony, Governor-General Dame Sandra Mason, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley and Leader of the Opposition Bishop Joseph Atherley were among the dignitaries that laid wreaths at the foot of the Cenotaph in commemoration of the significant day.

There were no official speeches during the memorial service, but several prayers were said.

Members from the Barbados Regiment, the Barbados Defence Force, Royal Barbados Police Force Band and eight members of the Barbados Legion, stood in vigil as they paid their respects to those who have served and died in the line of duty.

Military and police personnel honoured the fallen soldiers with a gun salute at 8:00 a.m., which preceded a minute of silence.
