Effective Friday, September 30th, the daily publication of the COVID-19 statistics dashboard ended.

After two-and-a-half years of daily updates, the Ministry of Health and Wellness made the announcement last month that it would no longer be posting daily updates of the country’s COVID-19 cases or related deaths. It would be replaced with a bi-monthly publication of the dashboard.

This announcement came less than a week after the enactment of new COVID-19 protocols for the island.

In response to this announcement, Dr. Lynda Williams, President of the Barbados Association of Medical Practitioners (BAMP) indicated that the decision to remove the daily publications of the COVID-19 statistic dashboard is not the real issue.

“What needs to be done, is to have mechanisms put in place to accurately measure any possible surge in COVID-19 cases so that steps can be made to effectively combat it,” she stated.
