The social and mental benefits of enjoying a good party are numerous and now is the time for Barbadians to free up and enjoy all that Crop Over has to offer while doing so safely.

This is according to Cultural Ambassador Stedson "Red Plastic Bag" Wiltshire who told the BCC Wallpaper that he is excited to be back out on the party scene and noted the benefits on the mind from partying.

While acknowledging that Barbadians must continue to socialize carefully, he said that the feeling of performing again locally is incomparable.

“I think it's really great that we can get back out and enjoy what it is to be living. Social activity is extremely important to psychological well being, once we can get out and socialize, coming out of COVID-19 I think it can go a long way in helping us to feel better about ourselves and feel better about the circumstances that we’ve lived in and that we’ve gone through,” he said.

Over the weekend amongst a stellar lineup of performers, Red Plastic Bag performed at Crop Over Unleashed at the Globe Drive-In, which was put on by the Rotary Club of Barbados South.

He said that with Barbados easing restrictions, this Crop Over season is one to look forward to.

“I was very excited to be there, happy that we are moving into the Crop Over season and that people are getting out again and that we are beginning to feel like we have been before,” he added.

“It’s going to take some time but we just need to be cautious as we go out there, pay attention to the protocols and the guidelines still but I think it augurs well for social activity and for psychological well being,” the Calypsonian added.
