The Barbados Community College (BCC) ambassadors brought the Grazettes community together, as they assisted Good Citizens Nursing Home with the erection of a new sign.

Looking at the bright blue building on Grazettes main road, there is no visible indication of it being a nursing home for elderly care.

BCC ambassador Safrana Mohamed highlighted the importance of this project, especially during the pandemic.

She stated, “I noticed that there was no sign and it is important because…a lot of people would like to donate especially during these COVID times…it is a good thing to put up the sign since it has been missing for a time, so the home can get help.”

The sign was provided to Good Citizens Nursing Home, but the issue was the lack of a structure to have it hung. Mohamed and fellow ambassador Delon Prescod could be seen “getting their hands dirty” as they assisted maintenance person Ronald Vaughn with the painting of the frame.

Prescod credited this project to Mohammed explaining, “We are ambassadors. She brought the idea of the project to us, and we all were on board and were willing to help, and here we are today trying to make a change in a home so it can get some notice in the community and Barbados as a whole.”

Mohamed added that the community played an integral role as they donated funds, material and provided free labour to construct, paint and assemble the frame which housed the sign. She also indicated that COVID would not be a hindrance for more community work to be done in the future.
