Despite the new COVID-19 restrictions, the Barbados Community College (BCC) Library is still available to assist students however possible.

Students are only permitted in the library for one hour at a time now, due to the social distancing restrictions that are in place. This includes the use of the computers, as well as the study areas that are located both on the ground floor and upstairs.

Depending on the traffic that the library sees on a particular day, some students may be permitted to stay a little longer than the allotted hour. However, this is not always feasible as spots must be thoroughly sanitised and seats are now limited.

Due to this, Library Assistant Vasco Quintyne explains that the library has increased the number of bibliography links that can be accessed on the library’s page on the BCC website.

Quintyne said that the library understands that students may not be able to get all of their work done in an hour at the physical library, but with the increase of bibliography links, they hope that students take advantage of it.

There will also be a meeting with administration in regards to enrolling students to the library on the Trident Learning online platform. From here, they can access a variety of library benefits such past papers, articles, books and more.
