Some Barbadians are getting an early start to their Easter weekend preparations.

Sue-Ann Jones said she attends church as they celebrate the resurrection of Christ, but before the event, they would have choir rehearsals and practice for poetry, dance and drama to perform on Easter.

She said she participates in the church activities but does not do the whole feast like persons would during the Christmas season.

Meanwhile, Velda Smith said: “I like to celebrate Good Friday first and then on Easter morning, I look forward to my morning service and then come back home and prepare my easter lunch and enjoy it with my family”.

Sharisse Bowen said her birthday is in the easter weekend and all she wishes to do, is purchase a ham and enjoy it.

Easter is one of the major holidays of Christianity, which marks the Resurrection of Jesus, after his death on the cross, known as the crucifixion.

It also represents the ending of the Lenten season of fasting and repentance.

From April 15th on Good Friday to April 18th on Easter Monday, people from all over the world, will take a moment to reflect and participate in unique Easter traditions throughout the Caribbean, such as cleaning, cooking, baking, kite flying and a non-red meat diet.
