The Residential Waste Collection Project has begun; however, some households are still waiting to receive their trackable roll-out garbage and recycling bins.

Communications Officer of ProSource Limited Jennel Edwards explained that the process to receive the bins involved persons beings sent out into the neighbourhoods to scan the water meters at the various residences. Once scanned, the information is reported, and a team is designated to deliver bins to the district.

Edwards added that customers were having delays on the delivery of their new bins due to the required time it took to verify customer information, ensure their customer database is updated with the gathered information, and assign a team to deliver the receptacles.

“If you are a fixed rate customer of the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) then you wouldn’t be assigned your roll-out cart at the same time. The reason being is we now have to take that information back, and we now have to enter it into the database…. So, we enter that information into the database, and then we have a team assigned who do reconnaissance and then they go back out and bring out your roll-out cart,” Edwards stated.

She also stated that people who do not have a residential water meter but live in a residential building would not receive a roll-out cart or recycling bin but are asked to submit their information to ProSource Limited via their website. The collected information Edwards clarified, would be relayed to the Sanitation Service Authority (SSA), and a decision on how to handle those residences would be made.

The Residential Waste Collection Improvement Project was officially launched in September last year, and ProSource, in collaboration with the Sanitation Service Authority (SSA) has been working to distribute the bins across the island.
